The album originally came on clear vinyl in a clear plastic sleeve carrying the x-ray and included a clear plastic square containing the lyrics, an impressively transparent piece of 1971 design. And yes, we have three copies.

A few others that come to mind are Dead Kennedys-Plastic Surgery Disasters, Eric Clapton-Slowhand, Genesis-Invisible Touch, Green Day-American Idiot, Metallica- St. Anger, Pantera-Vulgar Display of Power, Pearl Jam-Ten, Styx-Crystal Ball, System of a Down-S/T. I have most on my list, but none on yours. I will have to change that.

Yep. Like the ‘Cars’ themed posts, there are plentiful LP covers with hands featuring. This lot came entirely from the VC collection. Noting your comment suggests that our collections do not overlap much – I have two on your list!

I don’t know if I’ll be the only one to find all these big hand images grouped together a little discomforting, although seen individually I probably wouldn’t mind. An interesting juxtaposition.
Anyway, I’ll be boring and say my fave is the George Harrison one, with the runner-up as the Bo Hansson album, being an old proggie.

The physician in me can’t help pointing out that the person whose hands grace the cover of the Jeff Beck album has a pretty impressive case of clubbing, an abnormality of the fingertips and nail beds associated with a number of chronic diseases, usually the heart and/or lungs. Of the fingers we see, it’s most prominent on his right fore- and middle finger and his left fourth finger.

Not really. These album cover posts are approaching the LPs from an art rather than a music perspective. Hence I was after a range of hands being hands (rather than simply on guitar necks) and an interesting sequence of covers.
And there really are lots and lots of hands. Am thinking about a Part 2!

Aaah! Danger Money. One of my favorite albums of all time. Bought in on cassette when I first came to South Africa.
And the Jeff Beck offering also spot on.

One of the very few rock albums that has no guitar that I adore!
I have never tired of listening to it.

I don’t have of these, and haven’t seen many of them before. I’d quite like to check out UK. Liked Jobson during his brief Tull period.
I’d throw in Priest’s British Steel, Rainbow Rising as some good Metal handjo… efforts. I’m sure I could come up with more if I wasn’t pretending to work!

Although (technically) the cover is not a photo or illustration of a hand, the six-fingered handprint on Todd Rundgren’s “Nearly Human” LP (1989) immediately came to mind as I read your post.
It was an amazing collection of songs — each recorded live in the studio with a variety of musicians.

Pray don’t include Dead Kennedys in Pt.2 — that one just, er, seems wrong, even in its meant-to-be-wrong-and-that’s-the-point context.

Got the Trower/Bruce – short-listed for part two. As both of the other suggestions leave me feeling decidedly queasy, they probably won’t make the cut.
PS. Check out Bobby Womack ‘The bravest man in the universe’ and tell me if it’s just me that finds it as disturbing in its own way as the Dead Ks.
