Answers in a separate post late on Easter Sunday afternoon (AET)
13 so far I may come back when my eyes are feeling less stained and it is so nice to see a John Lewis bag, not sure why apart from it made me feel all nostalgic.

LP quiz plus travel/shopping nostalgia. Why not? 🙂

Eight for me at first try on my small phone screen, a score I’m feeling pretty good about. I didn’t think anyone actually owned #13 as I figured all the extant copies had been funneled to the used vinyl bins based how consistently I see them languishing there everywhere I visit.

Your eyes deserve a big screen punt, Vic.
I presume you mean #12. Today’s thoroughbred is tomorrow’s dog food (aka thrift store).

Hence my only getting eight…

12 for me. But I feel like I should know more. And those are some old bags!!!!

Fine score.
Yeah, well the quizmaster is an old bag. Or nag.
(Some I was given by a pal who lived in the UK for a while in the late 60s)

I wondered if it was some photoshop trickery at first. That is recycling in action. No single use plastics here

I don’t like quizzes, but bags look nice. With friends at the dining table we did sometimes a collective hit parade; everyone can wish for a song , who comment the current one. Happy easter to you.

I only scored 5, although maybe I should try on a bigger screen. It’s

I knew 5 easily, but struggled on a lot of them. The bags were killer though. Music History Time Machine with those things.

Just so. It’s kind of fun to give them an outing.

I’m struggling with 5,9 and 11 but I’m enjoying the different bags and feeling all nostalgic about the record buying days of my youth. Good quiz. 🤘

Delighted you enjoyed a nostalgic romp through past record-buying adventures. 🙂
Thanks for joining in!

Oy vey! Horrible showing for me: knew artist and title of two of them (#1 and #13), and the artist (I *think*) of another (#8). I join the chorus of celebration for the array of bags. My favorite is the one from Germany with the flight-related quiz. Question 5: Every passenger in first class: A) has their own personal emergency exit, B) has three times as much air as a passenger in coach, C) can enter the cockpit whenever s/he pleases, or D) is rich or famous!

Ah, there are at least three that will make you groan when you see them, JDB.
The 2001 ‘Quiz’ is great, nicht war? I used to visit the Frankfurt store whenever possible. Bought quite a few CDs there!

Well I’m sure you’re various shades of purple by now, waiting with bated breath, etc. and here’s my score, ah, it’s gone a bit runny, well, very runny actually, ah, the cat’s eaten it. Two.

Oh dear. Probably the fault of that bouzouki player. Thanks for throwing your Wenslydale into the ring, Robert.

This was so much fun! I found 13 (with a little help from Discogs I have to admit). Congratulations also on your collection of record store bags, and your fine taste of pairing some records and bags!

With other quizzes I often invite people to reveal whether they did it ‘raw’, or ‘assisted’. So thank you for joining in, for taking the research path, and sharing your enjoyment as well as the score.
Curious about which three eluded you.

More detailed score: “Raw” I recognized eight albums, for five I needed help to find or remind me of the title. These are the albums that totally don’t ring a bell: 8, 11, 16. Thanks for this very entertaining quiz! It makes me sad though, that I did not keep any of the bags of now long defunkt record stores in Antwerp. I guess I tried, but everytime you move, or lend records or books to friends, you lose some… Haha. Stay safe, Bruce!

So right, Guy. Things get culled… some you miss, others you don’t. But it’s been wonderful how folk responded to those old carry bags.
Grateful for your feedback too.
#8 would be a bit tough for non-Aussies, while you are certain to kick yourself about the last one when the Answer post goes up (tomorrow late afternoon, Melbourne time).

Seems I have no excude for #8 either. Down Under and the album where quite big hits in Belgium…

Fun quiz, Bruce.
Although I usually think of myself being like the tune, “I know a little bit about a lot of things” – in this case I knew everything about half of them, and absolutely nothing about the other 8!

I guess that’s ‘a perfect half’, Geoff! And I bet you ‘Doh!’ on a few reveals. 😉

I must have drunk too much last night, though I have no recollection of doing so (which means I must have). As a result, I’m embarrased to admit I can only identify two. In the words of my youth, “I suck.” But those bags? They make me miss that same youth! – Marty

Marty, perhaps you should try again on a big screen, in the morning? 😉 I am certain you would know more than two.
As for the bags, I’ve been delighted that so many folk enjoyed the non-digital nostalgia of LP carry bags!
Thanks for playing.

I love the “What’s in the bag man?” Idea. Dont tell me those are actually old shop bags you have. I still got a couple kicking around.
I actually stood on my head to get a better perspective of a couple of them. Didnt get the album but did get a head rush.

Yep. Real bags, CB. Some hoarded by yours truly, others passed on from friends.
So the ‘downunder’ tactic didn’t really work out, huh?

Super cool on the old bags and I liked the ‘Rocking Horse’ choice for one of the albums i have. I got a kink in my neck for that one.

Apologies for forcing you into such a range of calisthenic exercises, CB. 😅

The only way I can deal with the “madness” Bruce. That and lots of great music and talking to some good folk. Like you fella.

Kahvas Jute: Isn’t it great when a ‘lost gem’ proves to have plenty of sparkle left?

No kidding. I’m hearing some similarities to a few bands I like from that time but Jute has their own thing. Amazing just the one album if I read right.

Yep. The brilliant but unpredictable Tim Gaze returned to Taman Shud. Then later joined Ariel. Then left Ariel…

All that stuff worth a listen or is that a dumb question?

Ha! I did a feature on the Ariel album. Taman Shud are legendary down under. Progressive, melodic, surfers.

Ill have to jog my memory or go back in your archives. Just seen your other response thanks. You’ve given me so much that I sometimes wonder where I got it from. I guess I need to start a ‘Bruce File” Thanks for that. I really try to stick with new music i find but sometimes it gets lost in the volume of the stuff I listen to. Eventually if I really dig it, it rises to the regular spin list.

I’m confident I know 12.
(16 is one that I’ve fallen pretty hard for over the last year. Got myself the anniversary CD with the demos and such, but really should grab the LP).
