ABOUT

Although discovering records and popular music rather later than many, the last several decades have been spent enthusiastically catching up. This has resulted in a substantial collection of music in various formats. Yet vinyl LPs remain the music source closest to this 33 rpm heart.

Over the years I have been all of the things below for durations varying from the mercifully temporary to great big chunks.

Some brought great satisfaction and modest success, others neither. Happily, those that are on-going have proven nourishing and sustaining.

This is a very nice about page. I couldn’t tell if you were being funny or serious about the #FF tag. It’s #FollowFriday. You recommend a few people you follow and interact with, then retweet your friends’ recommendations. It’s an event to help everyone build their networks and play games at the same time.

I blog music videos occasionally, and I would like to have more extensive music blogging on my site eventually, but I just haven’t found the right contributor yet.

    Cheers!

Also to film cameras!I embraced the digital format and realised that’s it’s is not as good as claimed by
Would anyone claim that digital radio sounds as foods as cm? Although I do like radio6.

Hi Bruce. I’m Christopher, I commented on your post in the FB Progressive Rock Group — I just added your site to the links in my three music blogs. You have a great page. “Listening to Jimmy Smith = Coffee.” Nothing could be closer to the truth. Love it. Chris

Hey Bruce , thanks for the comment on ‘Clockwork’. Somehow it disappeared into the ozone after I looked at it. (Hit wrong key, sausage fingers) Anyways don’t think I can meet your deadline but I will look forward to what you’re putting together. Sounds very cool. Yeah at the time i went out and bought the Soundtrack for ‘CO’. Love it. (In CB’s half assed chronological musical trip I think the first soundtrack will be ‘Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid’)

    Hey Bruce

Matt here. We became reacquainted in JB recently – of course, had be to in the vinyl records section! Round & Round Records, Sydney Rd would have been cooler, though : ) Just wanted to send praise for your blog.Yep – its officially amazing. I see SO many shared tributaries feeding the stream of musical discovery… Prog, of course, but so much more. So I’ve saved you as a tab on my Macbook and I’ll endeavour to read as many posts as I can find time for. Just bought my first (albeit reconditioned) amp and speakers and getting back into vinyl again after decades away. Anyway, more importantly, the ‘Categories’ are great – can’t wait to dive in!…
Enough with the water analogies!…. Cheers.

Bruce, seen your comment on ‘CB Takes a Cigar Break’. Then it promptly disappeared. You’re one of my faves on this blog thing. You spark so much good music, old, new and in between. Some of your film faves would be welcomed. Chuck is laying it down and I’m enjoying a very good cigar.

Good on ya Danica. Your group initiative ‘Blog Dylan’ was one of the highlights of the past twelvemonth.

Though I don’t do awards, I’m sincerely gratified to appear twice in your list (though Lonely Keyboards is pretty lonely at present!).

      Keep writing!

50% – that’s 3 out of 6 red bind vinyl records that I have; Aphrodite’s Child, Zappa Trout Mask, and the sublime Jarre China concerts. Nice choices.
Not bad odds from the zillions, OK maybe billions, of red bind records!

Cool, 00i. Do you know Ozric Tentacles? If you like Hawkwind, may well be a band you’d enjoy.

Ozric Tentacles, yes, only got into them over the past couple years – hooked on Waterfall Cities and Spiralmind especially.
Like them a lot, watched a few of their many live videos. Possibly a bit more intricate than Hawkwind but good psychedelic jams. Can’t believe it took me so long to become aware of them . Thanks for the remind, I’ve got them playing right now – good stuff.

    Hello,

I just wanted to say thank you for the fantastic posts over the last few years! I recently decided to (somewhat impulsively, but also cumulatively) delete my blog, 365musicmusings, for a variety of reasons. Some mundane, some existential. Now that my thoughts and feelings have settled, I’ve been slowly getting around to saying my farewells to some of my readers. You were one of the few I actually had sustained and fulfilling interactions with and genuinely miss. It was fun, but I needed a clean break for the next stage of my life. I’m actually doing well and sincerely hope you are too. Perhaps one day inspiration and reinvention will lead to our digital paths crossing again, I’d like to think. ‘Till then, keep up the good work!

Paul, I really appreciate you taking the time to pen those words. Blogging is an odd pastime, as you well know, and I have lost count of the number of times I’ve thought ‘fuck it, I’m done’. But VC trudges along, with communications like yours putting a spring back in its step. I want to thank you too, for throwing some left-field listening into my path, though I was never as adventurous as the little voice in my head said I should be! As for your own journey, for what it’s worth I do understand the excitement and terror of change and wish you well. If stepping away for WordPress is necessary, I hope you find a way to express yourself creatively elsewhere. Good wishes and good fortune. -Bruce
