Sharing some of the spins that have been enjoyed at Vinyl Connection HQ over the past little while.

The third LP in the ‘trilogy’ of this particular period of King Crimson. While not as startling as Discipline, it remains an under-rated album from Robert Fripp’s Jedi knights.
Rick Wakeman’s solo debut still delights whenever I hear it. The prog rock ambition, the virtuoso keyboard skills, the historical pretence… It’s marvellous!
Not a particularly favourite band, but I’ve always loved this cover. The album is called “Crisis? What crisis?”.
A later Bill Evans disc, from 1971. The legendary jazz pianist explores electric piano for the first time on vinyl.
Having left Genesis, guitarist Anthony Phillips launched a long and rich solo career with the excellent LP “The Geese and the Ghost” in 1977. The was his third LP, and the beginning of the long-running “Private Parts & Pieces” series (1978). The art work is by Peter Cross, and is one of my favourite album covers, ever.
Which leads us to “Trespass”, the second Genesis LP and the last one featuring Anthony Phillips.

Cover art on a chair is a fun idea!
I used to hugely dig Supertramp during my teenage years, especially the “Breakfast in America” album. While my enthusiasm has since decreased, I still fairly enjoy their music. The same is pretty much true for Genesis, including “Trespass”.
While I’ve made a new attempts to get closer to King Crimson, I’ve never warmed to their music. That being said, I do acknowledge the sophistication of their musicianship.
I don’t know the other albums you featured.

I had to take a seat after that powerful pun lol. There are guitar pedal guys I watch on YT and whenever they get called legends they say leg-ends and then make jokes about feet lol.

In a few years, when things really git cookin’ round this old planet, that Supertramp scene will probably look idyllic by comparison. You could line it up with Rick Wakeman’s “1984” and Pink Floyd’s “Animals” for a nice infernal triptych

I love reading your posts. “Robert Fripp’s Jedi knights” … This is the perfect description. I’ve seen King Crimson twice in concert; the word phenomenal doesn’t come anywhere close!

Man do you pull up some good ones. Is that chair comfy? Can’t tell just by looking at it. Would have to sit in it to find out.

That chair is a two hundred year old family heirloom rescued from the side of the road a couple of suburbs away. It just about supports the weight of a single LP but I wouldn’t risk “Yessongs” on it!
