10 SUPER STAR WARS ALBUM COVER MASHUPS

No matter how often these STAR WARS album cover mash ups pop up, they always bring a smile.

There are many out there, displaying varying degrees of wit and technical skill. Here is a personal TOP TEN.

#10

Quite obvious, in a way, but very nicely done. Font matching isn’t easy and this re-imagining does a fine job.

Nirvana — In Utero (1993)

*

#9

The pairing of Brian May and Chewie is fabulous. In fact they all are. And what a nice title.

Queen — Hot Space (1982)

*

#8

This was the first one I saw, some years ago. The eyes aren’t quite right, but it’s still very nicely done.

David Bowie — “Heroes” (1977)

*

#7

Something a bit more modern, both musically and Star Warsy. I love that Kylo Ren is just a teensy bit shorter than Ms Minogue.

Kylie Minogue — Fever (2001)

*

#6

Like the other Nirvana mashup, this is slightly obvious. Even though the font-matching is a little off, the higher ranking reflects the delightful Yoda-speak title.

Nirvana — Nevermind (1991)

*

#5

Because Episode IV, Star Wars: A New Hope, is where we meet Chewie. Clever.

Black Sabbath — Vol. 4 (1972)

*

#4

This is so good, you wonder if Prodigy were inspired by the famous Han-freezing scene in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980).

The Prodigy — Music For The Jilted Generation (1994)

*

#3

Perhaps a little more hard core in terms of Star Wars knowledge, but what a brilliant image.

T. Rex — Electric Warrior (1971)

*

#2

So clever, and so funny. I think I may have left the album title as it was on Ms Springfield’s LP, but that’s a quibble. It’s marvellous.

Dusty Springfield — Dusty In Memphis (1969)

*

#1

There is a breathtaking purity of image and simplicity of communication here. Somehow both subjects are enhanced, making the mashup a wonderfully realised piece of art in its own rite (sic).

Bjork — Debut (1993)

My favorite is the last one. Even though I don’t recognize the album cover, I think it’s a great photo. Incidentally, what ever gene it is that makes men interested in star wars passed me by completely.

Good point. I’ve added in the artist/title of the source albums.

As for the genetic glitch, Jeff, I believe you can get a pill for that now. Either red or blue, I’m told.

The Prodigy and the Bowie album covers are both great.

Ha ha, big fun. I like the black and white covers best: Björk and Bowie. Question is: has the Nirvana cover baby sued Yoda for showing his tiny zizi without asking?

I believe the deposition has been sent via a time machine to a galaxy far, far away.

Very fun! Wasn’t Bjork in Star Wars? The open mike segment at the Mos Eisley cantina? or a different galaxy I guess.

Hope you have IP-ed that, Robert. Could be spun out into another series: Mos Eisley Got Talent.

There’s a delicacy to the 3-CPO image that really appeals to me.

    Thanks

Wow! These were awesome and the choices couldn’t have been any better. The T Rex / Boba Fett (Solo in carbonite) is by far my favorite!!

Bruce, not only are all of the mashups terrific (like Christian, I had no idea this was a thing), all of the comments are equally delightful! I think the Bowie is my favorite image, but love all of the title wordplay. Great stuff. Thank you!

No words for how delightful all this is, every one of them. I might go with the T. Rex, waiter. Paired beside that Dusty.
