Un Rêve Sans Conséquence Spéciale (“A Dream Without Special Consequences”) is the fourth album by Heldon.
Released in 1976 on the French Cobra record label, it is atmospheric in a dystopian, unsettling way.
Francois Auger (Drums, synthesised percussion) Patrick Gautier (synthesiser, tapes) Richard Pinhas (Guitar, Synthesizers [Moog B, Moog III, EMS], Tapes)
All but one track—the nastily effervescent “Elephanta”—were written by Richard Pinhas and feature intersecting lines from drums, synths and guitar. The album was produced by Pinhas under his rather fetching pseudonym Moogi-le-Moog.
Fans of Robert Fripp (a long time pal of M. Pinhas) will be thrilled by the dark energy suffusing this LP. Fractured drums, agonised guitar lines and paranoid electronica combine for a classic of uneasy listening.
Spin this just before bed to ensure unquiet slumber.

“Uneasy listening,” that’s hysterical. Beefheart floats to the surface first with that phrase, kind of like stubborn matter that won’t flush.

LOL. Heldon could be the Captain’s favourite electronic/progressive outfit.

As a fan of the dark, ‘unquiet slumber’ intrigues, going to give this a try. R. Pinhas rings some bells for me, although Heldon does not. Anyplace else I might have heard of him? While I could ping webs to find the answer, doing so would not count against my increased social interaction targets.

Er, here?
Heldon have pushed through the oscillator envelope several times in these pages, including the Dune series and one of those ‘bunch of records‘ posts I used to do.
If I successfully engage you here, do I get a feed-in tarrif?

100 percent sure it was that Dune post!! As it turns out, I paid a visit to a favorite used vinyl store later on the day I commented and walked out with Richard Pinhas: Live at Bam Balam, which I believe is a recent Record Store Day release. Consider me engaged! We’ll have to wait and see if the engagement actually produces electricity however…

I don’t have that one. Noted when it came out for RSD but didn’t see a copy. Hope it’s a good one and gets the electrons vibrating.
