One of the prompts during a recent Instagram vinyl ‘challenge’ was In these shoes?, the title of an excellent Kirsty MacColl song. It was a difficult choice for Vinyl Connection, selecting just one cover. So I thought, why not share the other contenders? Please, walk 1.6km in my shoes.

And finally, three that have appeared previously in these pages, two quite recently.

What’s your favourite footwear? Is there a cover that would be a shoe-in for this post?

New boots and panties. Ian Dury and the Blockheads?

LOL. Well Ian D is certainly sporting some heavyweight Doc Martins.
This time I steered away from shoes as accessories, as it were, even though I desperately wanted to include Little Feat’s Sailin’ Shoes. 🙂

Fun theme, Bruce. I’m particularly delighted to see “Look Sharp!”, one of my favorites by Joe Jackson!
While I’ve heard some of The Pointer Sisters’ music and generally dig them, I don’t know “Steppin” – that groovy opening tracks sound really cool.
I also recall we already talked about the neat ELO and Velvet Underground albums.
That’s all I have to say about that 🙂

“Look Sharp” and its companion LP “I’m the Man” are favourites here too, Christian.
Glad you enjoyed the early Pointer Sisters. I reckon they are great.

“I’m the Man” was the first Joe Jackson album I heard – love it! I got it on vinyl as a birthday present in 1980. Still own that copy!😀

There’s that Roy Harper photo bombing your takes again. Three albums pop into the head. John Prine’s Sweet Revenge, Joe Ely’s Dig It All Night and Haggard’s Big City. Second tier “Shoe Covers” but they’ve stuck in my head. Emmy Lou loves to show off her boots also. Maybe I should start my own post “Cowboy Boot’ covers. Is Roy available?

The Kinks “Low Budget” would be a good candidate for this post. Some excellent covers.

Excellent, Ernie. That would fit in well.
