A long time ago (about a year) we ran a series of Album Cover quizzes on various decades.
We covered three epochs (60s, 80s, 00s) but skipped over Vinyl Connection’s favourite decade, the Seventies.
Welcome, then, to the post-sixties comedown.

THE RULES
Below are fourteen album covers (CD sized) resting on a 12″ LP.
All fifteen were released between 1970 and 1979.
The task is to identify as many ARTISTS & ALBUMS you can, by fair means or foul.

I’m pleased to say that, on first look–i.e., no Googling–I could immediately name 8 artists. And of those, 6 of the album titles. No doubt others will surpass that, but I’m chuffed! 🙂

I was doing it last night on my phone, and thought the LP underneath might be Tusk. But now I can see it on Desktop, it’s clearly not, so I need to be taken down to 10.

He’s going through the 1001 Albums one a day. So it’s a brief overview, but he seemed to enjoy it. I need to spend more time with it sometime.

Very entertaining quiz! At first glance I recognized 9, of which 7 including the album title. The underlying LP is frustrating: I know I know it, but, aaarrrggghh, my brain refuses to cooperate…

13/15 for me, which were no-brainers. The one in the upper right corner looks very familiar but I can’t place it. Only the underlying LP is a mystery to me.

Bugger I got the background album wrong. If it’s not Rick Wakeman then surely it must be Faust IV? Their the 2 I know which have that staves design on a yellow background.

I find these album cover quizzes a challenge which is frustrating because I own or have owned most of the albums. I blame my habit of transferring my albums to tapes (nowadays flac) which I started to do to preserve the vinyl. I can console myself in knowing that I am good at research.

I managed 6/15 and that was better than I expected given that I stopped listening to the radio in the seventies in disgust at the rubbish being offered on the UK channel(s). No doubt I’ll kick myself, though, when the results come out.

Ah well, need to dock myself a point as I thought the vinyl album was Rick Wakeman’s 6 Wives. Got all the rest aside from that Skyhooks album, not familiar with them. So only 13/15.
